Here is a little about the AP NJROTC:
The unit got started in the 2001-2002 school year, but the
idea had been set in motion about a year before that. In the unit's short, but long lived history it has accomplished
many goals that critics thought impossible for a small 3-A school of about 600 students total. In their first year
alone they placed 3rd place at their regional competition and were awarded with the Best New Unit title for the 2001-2002
year. The second year, SNSI Lt. Cmdr. Cortez and NSI Senior Chief Del Rio sent the cadets to harder competitions
to show them what they were up against. Even with larger and better schools to compete against the small unit managed
to pull off 5th place or better out of about 15-30 schools at almost every competition. The third year they did thier
best yet. They competed against some of the best units that NJROTC had to offer and at their regional compeition
they place 2nd place earning their ticket to Navy Nationals. After great efforts, especialy by SNSI LCRD Cortez,
the unit raised the money to go to nationals. They competed valiantly and placed 9th at the competiton putting them
as one of the top ten units in the nation with about 625 units nation wide. As for the 4th year, well when i know
you'll know.
